What you will type
Police records passages are written like the work of a law enforcement records clerk: incident and supplemental report entry, public records requests and redaction rules, traffic and parking citation entry, property and evidence logs with chain of custody, and background check and clearance letters. Content is administrative and non-graphic, and every name, plate and case number is fictional.
Every name, company, address, account number and reference in the library is fictional. Passages are original and are not copied from any employer assessment. Use the Passage menu to choose a specific document, or leave it on Random.
Setting your requirement
The default practice requirement for this test is 40 net WPM with 90% accuracy over five minutes. These are practice defaults, not hiring standards. If the job posting states a requirement, open Settings above the test and enter it.
How the result is calculated
- One word equals five characters, including spaces and punctuation.
- Net WPM is gross WPM minus one word per uncorrected error per minute.
- Accuracy uses character alignment, so a missed letter counts once instead of shifting the rest of the line.
- Corrected mistakes are not errors, and text you did not reach before time ran out is not counted.
The full method is published in our editorial and scoring methodology.
Why real employer tests may differ
Employers and testing providers use different passages, durations, error penalties and pass marks. This is an independent practice simulation. Actual employer tests, scoring rules, and requirements may differ.
